    CFG annoying problems



    So i've a random cfg dont rember where i got it or who gave it to me.
    i've modified varied settings to get what i wanted .
    Anyway i've got some problems, annoying ones cant play correctly.

    First thing is i've that yellow light each time i shot , i hate that and cant focus at all ..
    Tried all settings i know , checked on website evertyhing is disabled in ESC iptions but it still there :
    Please tell me how to remove that dont want any light not a single flash whilee im shooting.

    I totally dont know what is that .... dont know how to desactivate it , and it never stops cant read a shit ...

    Hmm, strange - you did remove the muzzleflash in your cfg but it still draws.
    Don't know how to fix it , sorry - but here's my cfg if nothing else works:

    It's a text file, because I wanted to use the forum uploader which only supports text files, but apparently it doesn't work here.
    So anyways, just rename it ey

    Too much mumbo jambo in your config

    ex: com_watchdog - server command... useless in client config
    r_lastValidRenderer - let the game decide
    snaps - 40 is BS. You will use what server is set to. Just stick in 20 instead of 40. Who ever says, put 40, slap him hard. Even Etpro/scrim server runs on 20 snaps. 40 breaks many things..

    etc etc..

    edit: don't forget some servers have started over writing config with there lame pk3's and some servers forcecvar to the noob level.. so u can't even disable bob if you like too..

    Are you talking about jaymod for muzzleflash? or NQ?

    Yes on jaymod , not the first time i get that problem ...
    But hmm about cfg as i said its not mine and just changed what i needed to play correctly.
    Prob most stuff there arent usefull , but as long its working well for me i dont really care.
    Tried several cfg and it wasnt okay.
    And im not gonna spend my time on cfg
    I know a lot just use default cfg which i used for a long time.

    Well to be honest, my cfg was based upon the Image ET movie cfg. Since it messed up most of my preferred binds, I had to edit it again to a monster that looks like it is now :p

    But anyhow, I like how it works at the moment and I haven't had the chance yet to plunge into the cfg to delete useless commands.

    Firstly, never just do a plug and play with cfgs. You should always make your own, always. One reason being, you get crazy settings like this, it will add things like m_pitch and mouse acceleration which are bad themselves but even worse if not fine tuned to your playing style, and most importantly, some cfgs for download may contain wallhack/aimbot cvars which will cause PunkBuster to ban you just for having that cfg, without even having a cheat installed. That cfg does attempt to set cheat protected cvars to 0, but hardcoded protection will keep those at 1 and prevent a PB ban unless you have a cvar unlocker, but there might be things I overlooked. Here is a website that will check for *most* cheat cvars in the cfg, and is a must if you ever download a cfg (which you should never do):

    I did a check and it found no cheat cvars. However, as I mentioned before it attempts to disable some cheat protected cvars though and contains cvars not existing in ET which can make you profile.cfg too large to run and may lead to chronic settings deletion if not using an autoexec.

    For the light, muzzleflash is off. I think jaymod uses cg_muzzleflash or cg_drawmuzzleflash, try cg_drawmuzzleflash 0 or may try etpub's cvar, cg_nomuzzleflash. You might be referring to dynamic light, in which case you need to set r_dynamic light to 0.
    Daredevil is correct about snaps. It would be set to the same thing as sv_fps which will always be 20 or the server might break. 40 will do nothing at best. I don't know how it happened, but pretty much everyone who knows scripting/cvar basics thinks snaps 40 helps; it doesn't.
    The console spamming is from b_logbanners 1. Set this to 0 in the cfg to fix it.

    I cannot stress how much I recommend you never take someone else's cfg. You should always, always, make your own. If you have time, here are some places where you can get some info on scripting and cvars, but I wont mention and common (and lesser known) tweaks and scripts that may be of use, find them on your own.

    No i think you dont get it , i didnt post my cfg to get critic or advices or whatever.
    Problems are clear , its just that fking light , second problem got fixed.
    I didnt ask for anything else , im playing ET since 2005 and did own cfg for several times.
    Cfg i tested / accepted are from trusted ppl , clan members .

    who knows scripting/cvar basics thinks snaps 40 helps
    i totally dont care , value could be 10 - 100 whatever , i've my stable 125 fps (game smoothly) thats all i ask.

    and about
    ex: com_watchdog - server command... useless in client config
    Check shagi's cfg you have the perfect example .
    and when you are using Default cfg you have all those server command .

    Anyway thanks for your help, i'll test your commands.

    EDIT: tested cg_drawmuzzleflash 0 , cg_nomuzzleflash 0 and seta r_dynamiclight 0
    nothing changed .

    seta r_dynamiclight 0
    and it's gone It has to be this cmd, had the same some days ago. I didnt saw my muzzleflash at my gun but some kind of it around me on the floor, walls etc. everytime I or some1 else was shooting. Did seta r_dynamiclight 0, /vid_restart and it was gone...
