					Problem with downloads

							Hi guys,
I have a problem. When people are connecting for the first time to our servers, they have to download some soundpacks and stuff (we regulate that, so we expect that behaviour).
But they also have to download about 10 maps, before they are able to play, while the server is not using those maps at the time of connecting.
Does anyone have a clue why this happens and how to prevent it?
The maps that people need to download are over 55 MB, so it is annoying and a lot of people disconnect early because of that reason.

Yes we have them in our etmain folder, because we want to be able to play them.
We have 70 maps in etmain, but only a few maps are being 'forced' to get downloaded, not all maps.
So, why are these specific maps forced, and why are the others in etmain not?

Those maps have a *.campaign file in there scripts/ folder.
You have 2 options,
- remove the campaign file from that pk3.
- Or (the better option) create a pk3 which contains those files, and put it in the mod folder.
So just a zip renamed to pk3, which has in it the *.campaign files from those pk3's in a script/ folder.
Same structure, just bundled in one pk3.
Ah its many years ago I made this, but I am pretty sure this is the reason. I recall there can be some other circumstances leading to this, but they had been very seldom.

Thanks ailmanki, we will try the second option (which seems much easier) and let you know.

							Hey ailmanki,
I've chosen for the first option, which was easier in our case.
Thank you very much. It resolved our issue!
Regards,
