Then do two things now.
Try to play without any config. => /exec etconfig.exe
If it still happens, post two screenshots of your SYSTEM settings and your GRAPHIC settings in the main menu of ET.

This will seem like a stupid question, but are you sure your resolution is: 1024/768?
I'm assuming you want to play on fullscreen?

1) You don't have vid_restart in your cfg.
=> next map gets loaded, than some settings will change after a vid_restart.
this is not 100% correct, but loading a new map, while you /exec'ed your cfg in the map before, can work as a vid_restart.
=> your screen gets fucked up.
(for example the gammabug works like that).

My best guess is that the resolution 1024/768 isn't the right one for your screen.
Try something else, an other resolution in your cfg.
Then do vid_restart.

Soo, one way to solve this problem is to patch your ET to 2.60. Its the most easy way, but at last its your decision ,
A other way is to create your own autoexec.cfg therefore you have to open word or a new textdocument and put into this autoexec: seta r_mode "6"
You ve to save it as "autoexec.cfg" and put it into your /etmain
The particular Graphic solutions which u ve to write into your autoexec. are:

A Display-Solution of 960 x 720:
seta r_mode "5"

A Display-Solution of 1024 x 768:
seta r_mode "6"

A Display-Solution of 1152 x 864:
seta r_mode "7"

A Display-Solution of 1280 x 1024:
seta r_mode "8"

A Display-Solution of 1600 x 1200 :
seta r_mode "9"

seta r_mode "10" doesnt exist for ET and is not a supported resolution

The weird thing is really that he uses SETA and he defines a custom resolution.

I mean, even though it might be same as the mode 6 it should not go back since he uses seta. Right?

1. Create a new profile
2. Create a new config file and name it autoexec.cfg and put it inside the etmain folder. You don't need to exec this in game.

In the autoexec write:

seta r_mode 6
seta r_fullscreen 1

No. I highly doubt that. Something is strange here. Can't really think of any other solution than the ones already suggested.
