But, I was wondering, would it be possible to give some infostring about the server version (so we could detect if it's 2.55+ instead of just 2.55 or 2.60b?) Would be awesome!

the "serverinfo" string provides a info about the binary version: (in sl "system")
ET = 2.55+
ET 2.55 linux-i386 May 27 2003 = 2.55 (& the win one)
ET 2.60b linux-i386 May 8 2006 = 2.60b (& the win one)

"W+" was a first binary signature approach for 2.55+ server patch, then changed to "ET" due some external gamebrowser had problems to recognize et. (enhanced mod signature basing on a serverinfo cvar is just a version value, and here out of context)
