etkey help

Hi there,

I have a few players having trouble getting their newly generated key to work and would appreciate any help.

They have:

1. generated key

2. saved to etmain as etkey (no file extension)

I have done this successfully in the past but tonight when I try in one of my many W:ET apps it wont take.

Have tried /pb_cl_enable in console and get appropriate messages!!

Not sure wat else to try,

Any suggestions, am I missing something simple?

btw, dunno if they did it right, but for win7 users, etkey should be placed in User->AppData->Local->Punkbuster->ET->etmain

Yep I did a bit of research and found the answer!!!! Just came back to let ev one know!!

The easiest thing I found was at :

http://etkey.org/pages/punkbuster/auto---install-for-windows-by-harlekin.php

It updates/installs PB and if requied generates a key!!! All without needing to do anything manually!! So for new players not cofident editting anything this works a treat!!

Again the ET world helping each other out!!

next copy your etkey different file.

Not sure wat you mean BrownRanger?

You should back up your ETkey (a small file in your etmain folder) because if you lose it, you are not going to get a new one.

Yep I have it saved already on my desktop and on trackbase.

Tho if I does get lost there are etkey.net and etkey.org that can create new keys so not a huge issue!!!
